One of the better sushi places I have been to in recent times. I have been here for happy hour twice now, and I likely will return many more times. I like the size of the dining area, and the staff is always very attentive. The first thing I noticed is that they bring out free miso soup for everyone while you take time to look over the menus. I found myself sticking to the happy hour menu, because I am a starving artist. I also like to let limitation inspire me!
The miso soup was mild, in a good way. It felt like a great palette cleanser, along with pickled ginger (but not together, you see.) The quality of the rice is how sushi rice is supposed to be. Not too wet or dry or sticky or mushy or hard. Just right, and complementing the fresh fish they offered. Tako Wasabi was a raw chopped octopus and pickled Japanese horseradish...salad? Ceviche? It was tasty, but rich, and the serving was too big for me to finish. I would say to share with someone else, but then that's two sets of chopsticks digging into octopus slime in the same bowl...but it was still unique and pleasing.
I recommend trying the real crab California roll, available on the
I also thoroughly enjoyed the various oysters on the happy hour menu. I can't find anything to complain about here, other than I wish the happy hour lasted all day and night! -

The service was great and the dining experience was good. The music (mix of 80s and some 90s) was a great fit for the Saturday evening time that we were there.
We started off with miso soup and then moved on to the different selections (spicy tuna roll, crunch roll). My favorite of all had to be the chicken karage specifically for the manner it was prepared, very light beading and flavoring.
I've been to a number of sushi places and would recommend this place as there was great pricing for a quality meal. -

Quality sushi and rolls for sure. Philly rolls and spicy tuna. 6PC Nigiri and some extra salmon pieces - all fresh and delicious. In fact everything non-sushi we ordered was also solid: asparagus/zucchini yakatori, garlic edamame, chicken karaage. To boot, they have nice happy hour specials. Considering prices and quality the restaurant is a hit.
On customer service: seated for dinner, and our order was taken. Waited about 30-40 minutes and saw people arriving after us with their food. Told the waitress, turns out she forgot to put in our order. She admitted to it, apologized, and comped our meal to make up for it. So they made a mistake, but importantly, took accountability, and as a customer I will remember that gesture. -

Stopped by after reading all the great reviews about Sushi Hon, but my overall experience was pretty underwhelming. Ordered off the happy hour menu- ordered the crunch roll, spider roll, spicy california roll, and salmon nigiri + unagi. The salmon was so fresh and delicious!! The reason why I'm docking 2 stars is because our food took so long to come out. We had to really WAVE them down, mind you we were also seated at the way corner so it was hard to catch their attention. Nigiri came out quick, but the rolls took forever to come out. The rolls came out 20 minutes after each other. Had to ask for our edemame twice + our unagi wasn't coming out, even after we asked for our order to be checked TWICE. We ended up cancelling our unagi ordered and left unsatisfied. Service wasn't great, but wasn't horrible either. I don't know if I'll be coming back anytime soon though.

My sushi prayers have finally been answered!
I have been on the prowl for a good sushi restaurant near home and discovered Sushi Hon within walking distance from my place. Yayyy!!!
It is located in a very random strip mall area. From the outside it doesn't look like much but inside it is very clean and an intimate ambiance.
There is a happy hour menu from 5-7 that includes everything from appetizers and sushi. Woohoo~
The regular menu offers a decent variety of all the things I mentioned above plus yakitori. The fish is of high quality and suuuper fresh. I highly recommend the fried squid legs appetizer (ika gesho). So finger lickin good. The salmon skin roll was a close second.
Oh I must mention that the sushi chef, Aiden remembered our names from after only one visit. Super impressive. Sushi Hon is now my go-to spot for some hot sake and delicious Japanese food!
